Museum and Heritage Sites

Earnscliffe was the first disabled-led consultancy to work with museums and heritage sites. We have worked with hundreds of organisations to improve access to their premises, policies, exhibitions, activities and design proposals. Recent projects include Stonehenge Visitor Centre and Wellcome Collection. We helped establish and are members of several access groups including Tate Galleries and Brighton Museums. We have unrivalled experience of:

  • Developing published access guidelines
  • Working with designers to develop exemplary exhibitions and buildings that can be enjoyed by everyone
  • Developing practical interpretation solutions through user-consultation
  • Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams on high-profile capital projects
  • Successful fundraising for access provision
  • Attracting major awards for access and inclusion.

Current projects include:- Design Museum; National Maritime Museum; Volks Railway Visitor Centre; Bethlem Museum of the Mind; Boathouse 4, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard; and 10 new and refurbished galleries at National Museums Scotland.
